SWEA Vancouver Launches Environment Contest Open to All Swedes Living in Vancouver
Aims to gain benchmark on environmental practices by Swedes living abroad
Vancouver, BC, October 13, 2010 – The Vancouver chapter of The Swedish Women’s Educational Association, SWEA, today unveils the start of its year-long focus on the environment with the launch of a contest open to all Swedes and Canadians of Swedish descent living in Metro Vancouver. Participants in the contest agree to receive 8 emails with environmental advice and to fill in a short surveyabout their individual environmental practices.
In appreciation for entering, all participants will be entered in a draw for the following prizes:
1st prize: Gift certificate at the Vancouver based restaurant Raincity Grill, famous for its focus on Westcoast specialties and sustainable foods. Value: $150
2nd prize: A gift basket of efficient and environmentally responsible cleaning products donated by Norwex sales rep Jeanette Lilja-Fietz. Value: $50.
3rd prize: A gift basket with 1 kg delicious, aromatic and environmentally responsible coffee beans donated by Ethical Bean™. Value: $40
Sweden is a world leader in clean energy and environmental innovation, and Swedes champion the cause. In carrying out this theme, SWEA Vancouver wants to find out what the environmental attitude of Swedes living abroad is. “The project will not only be available to SWEA Vancouver members, but the 3,000-strong community of Swedes ,” comments Lena Normén-Younger, President of SWEA Vancouver. “We’re convinced the results will show that also Swedes in the Lower Mainland are focussed on climate change initiatives and we can’t wait to share the results with other community organisations to stimulate similar initiatives.”
In addition to the contest, SWEA will also be running a program of expert presentations, product showcases and a newsletter focusing on environmental articles and hints and tips.
